Homage to A C Grayling

in the beginning
there was
the unknowing –
an entire species
of primate which
didn’t know
a goddamn thing

along the path
of millennia
it mutated
[as is the wont
of species]

one branch
developed into
those who sat around
and made up stuff
and the other branch
became those
who actually bothered
to investigate matters

Paraphrasing Grayling, science and religion have nothing in common, although they do have a common ancestor: ignorance.
