Homage to A C Grayling

in the beginning
there was
the unknowing –
an entire species
of primate which
didn’t know
a goddamn thing

somewhere
along the path
of millennia
it mutated
[as is the wont
of species]

one branch
developed into
those who sat around
and made up stuff
and the other branch
became those
who actually bothered
to investigate matters

.

Paraphrasing Grayling, science and religion have nothing in common, although they do have a common ancestor: ignorance.
