I imagine a god to be everywhere
        so churches are unnecessary

I imagine Him absolutely sure of what’s best
                so prayer isn’t necessary

I fancy then that if god there was, he’d be unknowable
so religion – every last one of ’em – is unnecessary

…and He’d know how to reach each heart
so clergymen would not be necessary

.still;  there are shorelines, mornings, full moons,
                flowers, birds and butterflies –
or simple acts of human kindness –
that make my divine fantasies a necessity …
or to whom might I say Thank You ?
